Local Accommodations

On-Campus

Arrangememts for on-campus lodging for participants have been made at the Quadrangle Student Housing Complex. The Quad is a newly renovated turn-of-the-century-styled, air-conditioned complex conveniently located on central campus (see the campus map) between dining facilities and the Darrin Communications Center where the meeting will take place. The price for rooms is

  • $33/night per person for single occupancy (shared bathroom with one other room)
  • $22/night per person for double occupancy
For on-campus reservations, please fill out the housing request form (pdf file) and fax or mail your completed form to Melissa Reardon (Workshop Coordinator). If you have problems or concerns, please feel free to contact Melissa at (518) 276-6382, reardm@rpi.edu.

Note: the deadline for making on-campus reservations is May 25, 2002.

Off-Campus

In the past, participants have also stayed at hotels located close to campus in downtown Troy. The two choices most convenient to campus are

Both of these hotel are a relatively short walk to the Darrin Communications Center although some participants have commented about the elevation change. (The morning walk to campus is uphill and will get your blood moving for the day's activities!)

Note: while there is no strict deadline for making reservations at local hotels, it is recommended that you make reservations as soon as possible if you choose to stay off-campus. There is another event taking place on campus towards the end of the week of MPI that will compete for off-campus housing. This will not effect the on-campus housing and again if you have trouble making arrangements, please contact Melissa.

Further Off-Campus

There are many more choices for hotels further away from campus. For example, the following are two choices close to the airport:

These hotels are 15 to 20 minutes away from campus depending on traffic conditions. A more complete list of accommodations is also available.

Parking

Parking is available in the campus lot off 15th Street between the Visitor Center and the Armory. The fee for parking is $5 per day. Please contact Melissa Reardon (MPI Coordinator) for more information.
